Why Mexico?
It may be right next door to the United States, but Mexico deserves a closer look. It is home to a mix of ethnic, linguistic, and cultural groups living side by side, making for a complex melting pot of indigenous and European influences. The Mexican people are famous for their hospitality, and World Endeavors students will find this a welcoming setting for studying the Spanish language. It’s a beautiful setting, too, incorporating jungles, deserts, sparkling Pacific and Caribbean beaches, and quaint historic towns. With all that plus fantastic food and music, Mexico is a great place to see the world from a new perspective.
 
Program Information**
 
Live in Cuernavaca, Mexico
Cuernavaca’s roots run deep. Founded by the Tlahuica people, it was a center of learning as far back as the fifteenth century. Cuernavaca has survived the conquistadors and the rapid changes brought by modernity to become a charming modern city with a high-society flair. These days, it is a popular destination for students looking to learn Spanish and be immersed in the fascinating local culture. Cuernavaca is known as the “City of Eternal Spring” because of its climate, warm year-round but never too hot, with enough rain to make the area green and lush. Safe, student-friendly, and historic, Cuernavaca has plenty to keep students interested, including beautiful churches and the sixteenth-century Palace of Cortés. Mexico City is nearby, so it’s easy for students to explore other parts of the country.
 
Program Snapshot

Academics : Upon successful completion of the program, credit and transcripts are issued by Universidad Internacional, a fully accredited Mexican university. World Endeavors staff work with students and their academic advisors to ensure that students earn credit for courses taken abroad.

Students applying to this program must have:
  • Students must be 18 or older at the time of the program.
  • No previous Spanish experience is required.


Housing and Participant Life : Participants in this program stay with local Mexican host families. Staying with families is a valuable part of becoming immersed in the local culture, and it’s one of the best ways for students to practice their Spanish outside the classroom. Host families are very welcoming and enjoy having foreign students stay with them. Host family accommodation includes three meals every day.
